Pioneer 355mm Jointed Gouging Carbons are copper-coated, high-density graphite electrodes engineered for air carbon arc gouging (CAC) applications. Their male/female jointed design allows individual rods to be continuously fed together, eliminating stub loss and reducing operational downtime.
Key Technical Specifications
- Length: 355 mm (14 inches)
- Structure: Jointed (interlocking ends for continuous manual or automatic feeding)
- Composition: Premium high-density graphite core with a full copper exterior coating
- Power Source Compatibility: Designed for Direct Current (DC) machines operating on electrode positive (DCEP).
The 355mm jointed range is commonly distributed in varying diameters depending on the volume of metal removal required:
- 9.5mm to 13mm: Best for back-gouging root passes, precision defect removal, and light-to-medium fabrication cleanup.
- 16mm to 19mm: Ideal for heavy-duty industrial metal removal, removing massive structural weld defects, and prepping thick plate joints.
Key Benefits
- High Conductivity: The full copper coating ensures optimal electrical transfer and excellent arc stability.
- Zero Stub Waste: The socket connections let you push a new rod into the back of the burning rod, saving up to 15-20% of material compared to non-jointed alternatives.
- Minimal Thermal Stress: Designed to withstand high amperage loads with reduced heat generation, protecting the surrounding parent metal from excessive heat distortion
